This lodge won an eco award in 2003 for its efforts to minimize the lodges’ impact on the environment. Named after Elsa the lioness made famous by the film and book ‘Born Free’, this is one of the most elegant lodges in Africa and just seems to blend into the rocky crags of the ‘kopje’ (small hill). The setting is spectacular and it is one of the best locations to view rhino in Kenya.

There are 8 thatched stone open fronted cottages each with spacious double or twin beds and all with elegantly appointed en-suite bathrooms, locally made furniture and private deck. 2 of the cottages have an outside bath with views over the National Park. All have their own butler.

The camp has an open bar/lounge and dining room, a gift shop and a totally stunning infinity swimming pool overlooking the Meru Plains.

Day and night game drives, guided bush walks and cultural visits are on offer here together with day excursions to the Tana River with picnic lunch, and line fishing for catfish and barbel.
